David L. Harnish

David L. Harnish is Special Referral Counsel* to Salpietro Law Office's clients in the area of Corporate Services. His practice is focused in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, business formation and planning, commercial finance, business transactions, contracts, non-profit and tax-exempt organizations, and general corporate and business law. Mr. Harnish has represented both buyers and sellers in asset and stock acquisition transactions of varying complexities in a broad range of industries.

 

Mr. Harnish and his law firm, D. L. Harnish & Associates, LLC, spends a considerable amount of time handling fundamental transactions, such as mergers, stock exchanges, combinations, divisions, consolidations, conversions and dissolutions involving corporations (for-profit and nonprofit), partnerships, limited liability companies and other types of entities all across the United States.Mr. Harnish has successfully guided various religious, scientific, educational and other charitable organizations through the sometimes-frustrating maze of forming a charitable organization and obtaining its tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. He provides ongoing advice to such organizations assisting them in maintaining compliance with the tax-exempt laws and regulations.

 

Mr. Harnish is an active member of the Allegheny County Bar Association. He has lectured on various corporate and business topics on behalf of the Pennsylvania Bar Institute and other associations. Active in various civic and professional organizations, Mr. Harnish served as a member of the Board of Directors of Pittsburgh Young Professionals from 1991 through 1994, and as President of the organization in 1993.

 

Mr. Harnish received his B.A. in 1983 from Dickinson College. While pursuing his B.A. at Dickinson, he completed his junior academic year at the London School of Economics in London, England. In 1986, Mr. Harnish received his J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law and his M.B.A. from the University of Pittsburgh Katz Graduate School of Business, where he was inducted into the Beta Gamma Sigma honorary society.
